Referees

Referees

Referees are an essential part of wheelchair basketball and without them the league would not be able to run.

In this section you can find the Referee Appointments for all matches up to the end of the 2011-2012 season.

If there are any problems with regard to the availability of referees for appointed games, please e-mail the following address to advise. officials@gbwba.org.uk

If a game has been postponed, please e-mail the above address to advise, together with the revised date, venue and tap off time of the rescheduled game.

Please note that games cannot be cancelled without approval from the League Secretary. Extreme weather conditions are the only normal acceptable reasons to cancel a game.

Will home clubs please remember to contact referees at least 5 days prior to the game they have been appointed for to confirm the fixture and give directions? Clubs failing to do this will be fined if the game has to be postponed because no referees turned up.

Referee claims forms are also available to download here.

Refereeing courses are always being run to increase the amount of knowledgeable referees please check the events calendar to see if there is one you would like to attend.

Please note that from the start of the 2008/2009 season, all referees must be vetted under the child and vulnerable adult protection policy of the Association.  Due to recent legislation, this is a requirement for all referees who may officiate at games where junior players may be present.  A form has been sent to all referees by post.  This form must be completed and returned to the GBWBA office immediately.

Referees who do not complete and return this form will not be appointed for any GBWBA games.
