Grade One Assistant Wheelchair Basketball Coach
The course lasts 16 hours, and is predominantly practical. This course is suitable for parents, teachers, physiotherapists, and players/ex players, who wish to assist in the introduction of the basic skills and game play of wheelchair basketball to junior and beginner players and is a pre-requisite for the GBWBA Coach Award. Candidates must be aged 16+.
At the conclusion of the course the Coaching Assistant will:

have knowledge and understanding of the core generic coaching skills;

have an awareness of conducting a safe session;

be able to plan a session introducing the FUNdamental skills of wheelchair basketball;

be able to deliver a session introducing the FUNdamental skills of wheelchair basketball;

progress FUNdamental skills of wheelchair basketball into small sided game situations;

contribute to the evaluation of an activity session.
All candidates will receive the GBWBA Grade 1 candidate pack containing guidance on all content covered on the course and Wheelchair Basketball Grade 1 Assistant Coach certificate. Candidates will undergo on course tutor assessment, delivery of one short practical coaching session, written plan of one short coaching session, evaluate one short coaching session.
