Wheelchair Basketball a hit at the School Sport Partnerships Conference

SSP Conference

The conference was themed around Physical Education, Coaching, Competition, Young People Leading the Way, School Club Links and Innovation in Delivery.

GBWBA exhibited amongst other National Governing Bodies of sport, and they used the opportunity to promote local clubs, courses and most importantly, the new yoUR Sport resources that have been produced by Youth Sport Trust. Wheelchair Basketball have been fortunate enough to include 3 activity cards in the multi-sport resource designed to give young people competitive opportunities in alternative versions of traditional sports.

Inclusive Zone Basketball is the main feature of the cards that have been distributed to over 150 school sports partnerships in England. The Competition Zone at the conference provided the chance to display the content of the cards which has been designed to be inclusive for all abilities and equipment that schools have available. Stirchley Primary School and Rhino’s Wheelchair Basketball were on hand to demonstrate the activities and give the delegates a taste of wheelchair basketball.

Youth Sport Trust have provided GBWBA with 15 additional copies to send out to those clubs that are actively working in schools and would like the resource to support their existing activities. If you would like a copy, please contact j.richards@gbwba.org.uk .

*Resources are limited to one per club and will be issued on a first come first served basis.
